This week I had to look into Disney’s live-action Snow White and the big DEI debate (my thanks to Arty, a podcast listener who recommended the topic). Because of how my mind works - I needed to find the throughline to a lesson for how Disney and DEI relate to the bigger picture.

It’s almost surreal to think that a classic 1937 fairytale has become such a cultural flashpoint. Between the “woke” debate and the casting of Rachel Zegler—who, by the way, (according to reviews) apparently nailed the role of Snow White—the conversation spirals far beyond simple princess dreams.
Early reviews suggest the film recaptures the magic of the original.
Controversy, however, swirls around everything from who’s playing Snow White to how the dwarfs are portrayed.
Disney CEO Bob Iger stays out of the fray: “We have to entertain first.”
